Wine Lovers and environmentalists will be thrilled to hear that The Napa Valley Wine Auction will receive 1,500 gallons of biodiesel to run its generators and support vehicles. Auction Napa Valley is at the forefront of charity wine auctions and has raised more than $62 million over the years for social service and health care organizations. Golden Gate Biofuels is proud to be a part of this year’s auction by donating the environmentally-friendly diesel product.“We are very excited to make this donation because Auction Napa Valley helps the community, just like B20 Biodiesel helps the environment by being an alternative, biodegradable fuel source,” said Dennis O’Keefe, Owner of Golden Gate Petroleum.
Auction Napa Valley 26, chaired by the Cakebread Family of Cakebread Cellars, will be held June 1-4. Bidding is currently taking place on the Napa Vintners’ website.
B20 Biodiesel Donated to ANV
Napa Valley Vintners (NVV) is the trade association representing Napa Valley wineries and launched the Global E-Auction as a signature component of the world-famous Auction Napa Valley (ANV).
Biodiesel is made from vegetable oil through a process called Trans- Esterification in which vegetable oil is broken down into diesel fuel and glycerin. Biodiesel is then ready for use in engines. Because Biodiesel comes from vegetable oil, it is both a renewable and sustainable energy source.
